Bug out Bag camping

I'm glad to get such a response from you guys and from the people I had mostly expected too.

This is all started for me from seeing a "penny stove" on the net and making my own one, then building up a kit etc for cooking



all up i think it has cost me about 40-50 bucks but the cup was ten bucks, the pot was 20 bucks so... not so bad.
Just have to add in a microfibre teatowel and rag, and some salt sachets (for hydration) and sugar sachets. (for diabetes), maybe some coffee sachets (for dehydration)

my idea of bug out camping is a bag you can carry for a long distance, smaller than a hiking pack that you would be well prepared with proper boots etc to carry for days.

I've always liked the idea of the survival skill type of thing, wich is why the last knife I bought was a Blackbird SK5 but other than camping trips and playing I have not had the chance to put much of this into practice.

The snow trip has seen me invest in a decent sleeping mat and a tent (which makes me wet if you were at the last meeting)

I have my hands full at the moment with the snow trip and my holiday in NZL next month but after that I am anxious to get dropped off at the edge of a forest and just walk in for 2 days.

On a slightly more serious note, lets add some of this stuff to gregs thread and present on some survival techniques or tools that you have built/aquired or questions you may have and dank and I can help if you want?

I am no expert, but for "bug out camping" that is a big kit. 2 vessels is more then enough, maybe even 1 (say the one on the right for one person), much smaller bottle of detergent, no cloth is required use clothes and air and if you were really serious you would use a spork or even more hard core a stick.

the 550 is on the coffee table infront of me, I left my other length of 550 at horseyard flat

I get where you are coming from on that one harley but it isn't a minimilast approach, I could just scrub the lid to the pot and the wind shield etc, this is more of a backpacking kit.

Great site, been a member for years, but that probably isn't a surprise to anyone.

Can't find the link now but they a had a few threads on bug out vehicles, some of them were pretty cool, and of course being American some of them were just ridiculous.

What you said about the little tin you took on your survival trips has stuck in my mind.

I think that would be a cool rule for any of us wanting to do one of these camping trips.

if you had say a 2 litre container that you had all your survival gear in would be ample for an overnite trip, even enough room for some fishing gear.

Can we get a quick idea from those who are following this thread who would be interested in....

a 2 day, 1 night trip with a medium sized backpack (say 20 litre)
and who would want to do a 2 day, 1 night trip wiht just what you can fit in a container.

then we can prioritise which one to do first,
I'd be up for either.

I would be up for either the back pack or the container, could be lots of fun.
Pretty much all my camping gear is hiking stuff so I probably already have everything to make up a kit.
