There is a strong chance that the fuel pump is very old.
The diaphragm can break down, with age, which can gum up your carby.
Best to fit a new one, and put an inline filter between pump and carby.
You can also replace the stock filter with an inline efi filter, from commodores??
They filter better and last longer.
Starting with a clean tank and fuel lines will help, too.
Most early zooks have a tank drain plug which is a bonus.
Have often found mud and water in mine.
These things plus a carby kit if needed, will save a lot of headaches down the track.

No starters left sorry.
I used to pull mine out, walk it to the auto elec,
and it usually cost around $100 for a full reco of it.
It was always full of mud and crud :o
