Vitara mods

Post by cj! »

For those with Vitara's and looking to get that little bit more out of them here are a couple mods to consider. They do require welding.

Front end widening

Rear axle rotation

Following on from the axle rotation if you also shave the diff you will gain a substantial amount of diff clearance too.

Kerry Wittig in the USA shaved his diff in conjunction with the axle rotation gaining 48mm (1&7/8”) clearance using ¼” plate and replaced the 2 bottom carrier mounting "studs" with bolts for draining the oil.

Is there a direct correlation between diff lifespan and diff shaving for a daily driver?

I don't think it would be measureable.

Yes, there's a reduction in oil capacity, but a slightly more frequent change interval should see to that.
