MVO access help required

Post by billbarbas »

We have a massive no list of MVO's we need as a club to review, I will endeavour to postem up (CJ?), asap. We need to assess these tracks, see if the reasons to not reopen are justified. For example, certain tracks do not provide a 4wd experience according to DSE, or accesses private property.

Funny enough, I noticed there are no MVO's in Toolangi, Dissa, Tallarook which I dont believe is the case. Anyone know of any?

We are working towards reopening some of the tracks in Toolangi, funny enough tracks like Vic Range arent in the discussion paper.

Give us your thoughts, and for those doing the training in Toolangi this weekend, bite your tongue!!! We will get there!

It would good if we were actually able to get permission to do a recce of the tracks in question to determine their worth otherwise how do we actually know what they are currently like :?:

Its not so much what they are like now, its more of its importance to us as 4wdrivers. What we need is the history of the tracks prior to them being MVo/
Questions needed to be asked for example: Does this track take you somewhere significant to 4wdrivers eg Campspot, river, helipad etc. Does it link up with significant tracks?
There are tracks in the Big Desert apparently where one has become a MVO and now it takes 5 hours to do a loop of the place.
In terms of doing a recce by vehicle unlikely, by foot go for it.

I'm not aware of any MVO tracks in Toolangi except for one from sylvia creek road (at the rainforest walk) to up near the summit of Mt St Leonards.

Not that I am aware of but I am learning more and more each time I go out there........

Went out with Mudrhino on the weekend and went places I have not been before or remember going.

Need to get a laptop and ozi working in the car to plot tracks properly. Also need to make contact with Dissa ranger to see what his master plan is
