Re: new product
Altho a new product, its not a new idea. Been around fer a while.
We used similar ideas with Mokes in the early days.
I've used a snatch strap aroundthe spinning tyre to debog myself (why was I wheeling by myself anyway) and it works well, but is a strain on clutch and driveline, especialy cv's if the front is used.
Very cheap and simple insurance for sure.

Re: new product
These have been around for ever I've seen ads reprinted from US magazines from the 1960's for them, and US Army Hummers used to have lugs on the rims that allow a wheelbrace type thing to be attached and used this way- I've seen a photo of that too.
On a sand dune... maybe. for a river crossing.... maybe. For our kind of recoveries? Nah... I'd rather not. That's a lot of load on an axle/suspension/bearings and would require a locker anyway to work. Quite apart from having to dig enough access to the hub to get the thing on.
I vote it's dodgy on a number of levels.
Steve.

Re: new product
On a slipping/spinning wheel, they act sort of like a brake, which can put some drive into a wheel with traction. My cltch stunk and slipped for about an hour afterwards.
If I''d had lockers back then (Lada Niva) I would not have been stuck anyway.
I was once owned by a Lada Niva
Or maybe more than once

Re: new product
Given the low cost and versatility of the small handwinches, I'm not sure I'd use this design by preference.
With the low weight of our vehicles, the versatility of choosing the winching angle, direction of attachment and being able to raise and lower via the winch I think a handwinch wins out.
However the small units have a very limited winching distance capability - which can be a PITA but they don't rely a working engine or electrical system and that can be a big advantage.
Very slow sometimes - but certain, and good exercise.
