G'day.
Just had a call from my brother in-law.
He has 1998 V6 GV. His mechanic has said he needs new shockers etc.
I have ARB OME in mine and they have been great and are still good.
What do other people recommend ?.
He does not take it off road too much so mostly black stuff driving and some sand.
Since I have change my suspension, there are a few more suppliers.
1. Pedders
2. ARB
3. Tough Dog
4. IronMan
Not sure if he needs new springs though. But I do know that all 4 corners need replacing.
Any suggestions ?

How long is he going to keep it? If it is for awhile then I would look at The ARB as think it is better than stock but if it is not for long then I would look for a cheaper solution.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara suspension suggestions
Whilst not directly GV related - the Feroza had Tough Dogs on it when I got it and they had done 200,000 kms and still were acceptable ( just ) on the Peddders shock tester, so I would have to give them a tick,
However the Pedders fronts that I used till the Bilsteins were ready didn't last a single trip before both failing so I have grave reservations about their quality.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara suspension suggestions
Ironman, all that i have used have been "heavy duty, designed for off road" translated + "stiff as all hell"
Rancho, hit and miss. They think their 9 stage adjuster means that "one shock fits all"
OME, they actually spend time and money testing shocks built specifically for a vehicle. That said i think they are designed to match their Old Man Emu spring rates.
Pedders, almost every set we have ever fitted to a Chev silverado here has come back.
I think it's more important to find something designed and valved for the specific vehicle as opposed to "this one has the right fittings and is the right length".

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara suspension suggestions
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
I have seen my brother in-law and gave him all of the suggestions.
Well, I've done my bit.
ARB gave me a very good price ... So hopefully he will go with ARB.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara suspension suggestions
Well..
He went with the ARB OME springs/shocks etc.
My brother in-law says this is the best thing he has done to the car.
The car handles very well and does not jump when driving over corrugations etc.
He said it is like driving a different car now.
