If you ever suspect termites, dont leave it too long, the buggers are quite voracious.
They rely on capillary action of their mud? tunnels to draw water up, so house smells after rain
Along with Takata Air Bag Recall, and related stripping of one Paj and building another,
and the covid lock down battle, I have also been in a termite battle for a couple of years, possibly more.
Combination of not being taken seriously at first, and a change of contractors causing a loss of job info being passed on.
When finally believed, the termite treatment was a 6 months thing, before any works were allowed.
Then covid stuffed up the works, so only 2 damaged windows have been replaced.
I got sick of the smell of mud, dust and mold, so been using my non Paj lock down time to strip the affected wood.
Tis only a lining to protect walls from my wifes (ex) wheelchair.
Nothing structural.
I was hoping to be out the house tripping in my old Paj, not stuck at home building an older one.

Re: Termite Battle
Luckily had plentiful supply of masks around.
Got heater on full, all windows open, and exhaust fans going now.

Re: Termite Battle
No idea, but termites wont eat hardwood, which frame probably is. (hopefuly)
Rest of unit is brick n tile on concrete base.
Plaster and structural works is beyond my tools and abilities, so Housing Commission can do the rest.
I just wanted to be able to breathe while waiting for the covid jammed posted parts for Paj.

Lower beam is stuffed, uprights may be ok.
Have reported it again, and involved the Public Tenants Association.
No gas now, huge leaks , repairs happening over weekend.

Re: Termite Battle
Another change of name.
I am sure this will help.
Nothing has fallen down, yet.
Dust is never ending.
Mold improving a lot, now.

Covid has now slowed progress but at least it's more liveable now.

Re: Termite Battle
I have inner walls and curtains now.
Just waiting on corking/patching, paint and bedroom carpet.
Feels like luxury living compared to the last year, and starting to smell nicer.
Plaster dust is no fun, though, hope painters come before next year :O
Have driveable car, and liveable house, life is good, need more trips.
