Anyone looked into building a rally style cab like they put on the gypsies in India? Granted the one in the video would look a little odd on my SWB but I still like the concept.

they are around in australia just not exactly like that they are a bit less fast back or couoe style if you know what I mean, more of a steep angle

Yeah, not too keen on the cost of those. Surely this is a good introductory sheet metal fab project. I'm sure I'd prefer it to be removable though. To sit comfortably in my cab my head rest sticks past the b pillar by a good way so a neat stock looking cab close off is not suitable.

I made my space cab out of ply and alloy, cos my welding sux.

Love that. I've already made a ply cutout to shut off the tub section. Been watching Trev's blog on YouTube and he has some new vids about forming sheet metal over wooden shapes. Must get my hand on some steel sheets and get shaping, bending, riveting, etc etc. Considering using front window glass but might need too big.

sheets of polycarbonate from bunnings may make good windows. Can cut pretty easily. Come in tinted as well.

Could probably use polycarbonate sheet for entire rear wall.
May need side windows if going any longer than that.

Polycarbonate is terrible with UV. It will get brittle.

My 2c- buy and modify a maruti cab back. Recreating the contours/window rebate etc will be a nightmare.

Polycarbonate is UV stable according to many sellers, and also comes with extra uv coatings as an option.

But I agree, modifying an existing cab is much easier.
I started with a broken hard top cut down, filled flatter areas with ply,
and reused the window from the hard top.
