Anyone know if a collapsable steering shaft really neccesary for the BenT install kit?
Or can you substitute with a grinder and welder??

I chose to use a collapsible shaft as my welding is not anywhere near good enough to weld major steering components.
I would guess welding is not permitted legally/engineering wise. (just a guess, don't know)

Hi Fellas.
Hi Kiwi.
I fitted power steering to my sierra recently. I shortened my steering shaft and welded it back together with a piece of tube over the top of the join. The tube holds it true while you weld it. As well as giving a strong join. I also used the Ben T kit.
Regards Wayne.

I would use a collapsible shaft.

No, cutting and welding steering components isn't legal, and most engineers will not entertain the idea at all.
