Dyno Tune Vitara 1.6L EFI

Post by Scythe »

What kW (at the wheels) should I expect out of a 1.6L EFI Vit? I know the motor is supposed to be 71kW at the fly wheel, but I don't know what level of reduction to expect at the wheels.

I am running 235/75/R15 tyres and have extractors with a high flow cat, and cold air intake (snorkel), otherwise all stock.

I am only getting Max 40kW at the wheels after any tune. I would like to know if this is all I should expect, or is there a problem I should be chasing.

Has anyone else had a similar vehicle tested, and can you provide me with a benchmark for what kW at the wheels I should expect?

Cheers

I'm not sure about that 71Kw number - that sounds like the Japanese rating to me, which inflated power a little. I've always worked on 65Kw for a stock G16B.

40 RWKw probably isn't very far from the mark.

When you say underwhelming, has performance dropped away or has it always been "underwhelming"? They're not a fast car by any means, and your larger tyres will be hurting perceived performance too.

More broadly, you can't compare results from different dyno's - that's only going to lead to confusion/disappointment. I'm also intrigued to know what a "dyno tune" on a G16B is. Other than very small changes in base timing there's nothing to "tune" If you are looking for a problem, check timing and A/F under load. There's little else that could cause an issue unless compression is well down.

Steve

Thanks for the reply.

I would still like an actual comparison. Opinions are fine, but real time data would be better. Someone must have put their Vit (or any G16B vehicle) on a dyno at some stage.
