Hi everyone,
I put a new water pump in my Sierra today. For that procedure I followed the SJ413 workshop manual and everything went well.
Afterwards I started re-installing the timing belt (that was only removed in order to get at the water pump) and think I have stuffed up the configuration of the distributor rotor the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys by turning the crankshaft with the timing belt removed. To get everything back in alignment I think I need to have the distributor rotor pointing at the cylinder 1 spark plug wire, with the camshaft timing mark lined up at the top and the crankshaft timing mark aligned with the 0 on the timing cover. Does this sound right to others?
Cheers
David

Re: Timing belt installation
Finally got to the bottom of that problem. Interesting sidenote:
The cam pulley on a 1995 Sierra is different to earlier models and is stamped with 2 timing marks. The one stamped 80C applies to Sierras, and the other mark stamped 60A applies to Vitara engines. That may be useful information to Suzuki drivers somewhere.
