Hi all,
With AT fast approaching I have decided to get moving with my roll cage and as I know there are many others in the same position I am offering to place a bulk order for anyone who is after some tube
The conditions will be full lengths only. Cash up front, any sizes that you require should be ok.
As a few club members have 44.45mm dies and I have a 38mm die I suggest sticking to these sizes.
If you are iterested please let me know how many meters you want and I will work out the exact cost once I have confirmed qty
I estimate it will be around $20-$25 per meter and 6-8m lengths

Re: Roll cage steel
I've been having a think about this regarding material selections and construction and the idea of using pipe vs tube. I had a quick look to see if I could find any specs on strength but didn't find much.
Obviously tube uses a different set of dies and has no welded seam. Pipe may also not bend so well but a good design would have minimal bends.
My question is how much different is the strength of 44.45mmx2.6 CDS tube vs 32nb pipe (42.4mm OD, 2.6mm wall (also available in thicker walls))? i.e. how hard would I have to hit something to destroy a cage made from pipe?
Strength is important and the cams guidelines are quite comprehensive but I'm not sure thats something we all need. I'd be interested to see what people who have had more experience with cages think.

Hey Jonno I wanna know if you have put any more thought into going to the smaller diameter to fit between the dash and the doors so you could run a 6 point without cutting things up too much.
Does anyone have the dies for that diameter?

Yep shag lots of for my car that is
Expecting my JD tomorrow. With 38.1mm or 1.5" this size sites me for my plans.
I think definitely get another size later.
