2010 George Derrick rally - Helpers Needed!

Post by CCRMIT »

Hi guys & gals,

I'm James Elliott from Car Club RMIT (http://www.ccrmit.com), and official’s coordinator for the 2010 George Derrick Memorial Rally, round 3 of the Victorian Rally Championship & Victorian Club Rally Series.

With a entry list of just under 80 cars (turbo 4s, through to datsun 1600s & escorts), we are finding it difficult to cover all our road closure officials that are required - As our usual pool has been depleted by competitors and there service crews etc (250-300 people)!

Whilst no previous experience is required, I am hoping I might be able to interest a few of you to make the journey out to Avoca, on Saturday 17th July, and assist us with our event.

A road closure official is basically a road block to stop motorbikes/bikes or other vehicles from entering onto a "special stage" keep the competitors & public out of harms way.

Most positions will require volunteers to meet in the Avoca region around 11.30am with the event over by 11.30pm (earlier for most people).

If your interested and would like to know more, please give me a call on 0438 277 305 or visit http://www.georgederrick.com for more info.

Thanks for your time!

Argh, I would love to do this (and have done it before for the Rally of Melbourne) But I just dont think I can spare the time this week.
My cams officials licence has expired, but I dont think it would matter for this event anyway.
