Hi Louis. Good news. Do you have any under body protection on the Vit?

I sure do.
Are there large rocks or climbs to worry about?
Louis.

Louis, There will be climbs for sure and they are long and steep. There could be rocks as we discovered on the last trip unexpectedly but we are not planning on doing any rock crawling. Chen went down Billy Goat Bluff last trip without bottoming out on anything. I was the only one scraping the rocks. The under body protection is just a good insurance policy. It is very difficult to get a non drivable car out from some of the tracks we might drive. You certainly don't want to roll up with any pre-existing cooling issues.

Thanks for the info Mike.
I have protection thats in 3mm and 5mm plate under the car as well as the rock siders.
The Suzuki will have a service before the trip that will include a radiator flush and new oils in gearbox and diffs.
I understand that failure ain't great for trips.

Sounds like I should get some underbody protection before then!

Luke

All you need is a transfer case guard. There are a few places that supply these. The transfer case is a little susceptible to damage and having the electrics ripped off. That is all that is really necessary.

I only recently fitted skid plates to the radius arm mounts and I have had skid plates on the rear shock mounts for a while but both of those are optional. I have been thinking about a fuel tank guard as well but again that is optional. A knock to any of these won't stop the car.

The reason I asked Louis about this is that the new Vitara has a lot of stuff underneath than can get damaged.
