The parts arrived from Low Range USA. Rear Lock rite Locker and transfer case reduction gears.
My mate Greg is fitting them over the weekend and ran into one small problem. Two of the teeth on the rear diff crown wheel has small chips off them.
Is it worth replacing the centre and if so where do I get one?
By the way, he was very impressed with the quality of the transfer case parts. All japanese apparantly.
I was also impressed with the level of service Low Range gave when I sent a couple of emails to them expressing my ignorance on all things mechanical. They graciously sent links to videos and instructions on how to fit the bits.

What did it cost to ship the parts? Did you get anything else?

Re: Let the upgrade begin
The transfer kit was $415 US, the locker with couplers was $279 US and the postage was $95 US. They then issued me a credit for $53.44 US with no explanation why. Who am I to argue?
While I am here, my mechanic took my Sierra for a test drive. Apparantly if you drive in a straight line, stop, then do a hard lock, an almighty bang comes out of the diff. Is that standard with the diff lock? I am aware that it should "click" as it moves, but this "bang" I was not aware of.
Cheers

It was 10% off this month or something from lowrange.
Re: Let the upgrade begin
The bang is when it unloads when there is torque going into it, as it settles in and you learn how to drive with it, it should happen less, basically try not to turn to much while under power, let off when you can so it can click instead of bang.
This is the problem with an auto locker. Having the setup properly will reduce this happening, Marty took months for his to be setup right.

Re: Let the upgrade begin
Well it is finally complete. The original diff was very worn and had two teeth missing. I purchased a better one from Thane (not sure what his avatar is) and it is much tighter. Hardly any strange clunks or rattles. Obviously it still clicks around corners and bangs when loaded up around corners.
Yea!
