oxygen sensor

Post by martin »

Hi guys can anyone help me with this, I need a new oxygen sensor for the Vit, it is 1 wire from sensor to a 4 wire connection. A universal sensor will not fit, as it has a round female connection, mine has a square connection. There are no aftermarket ones available I have been told so I have to buy original at $327.00 a pop, I am not that keen, Is there a solution, do I try and find a second hand one that may work, or can the universal one be rewired to fit? Ideas? Marty

marty,

Try scoring one off a baleno or similar from a wrecker.

i grabbed a Map sensor for a whopping $10. so the investment in the experiment is pretty low.

You could also get your hands on an FSM for a vitara to confirm what the expected signal is from the Vitara sensor. Then you could check the same for a Baleno if you are not sure about it.

i.e. back when i did the wiring on my Jimny engine, i found that the signals were the same for much of the vitara stuff. i expect this will be the same situation for the Balenos.

cheers

Thanks Greg
I managed to source a brand new universal sensor from Qld that cost only $19. and will have that put in at the earliest. :)

19 bucks??!!!

that's $9.00 wasted marty!

you could have been 0.032% of the way towards a set of 37" krawlers to tuck under the vitara.
