5.12 onto Sierra carrier (ring for cross pins?)

Post by christover1 »

If fitting 5:12's from Vitara carrier onto a Sierra carrier, do I need to do something to stop diff pins falling out?
Searching around says yes and no depending where I look
Will be using Spartan locker into Sierra 4 pin carrier, with Vitara ring and pinion into GVsteel diff...onto my Vitara front end
It appears that it is a 2 pin Sierra carrier in there anyway, not the 3 pin I'm told should be in it.. funnnn

just found this thread http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread. ... wap&page=2 last night as i want to fit 4.6 or 5.12 vit gears. Might be of some help to you too. Spidertrax no longer lists the retaining ring so not sure where you could get one. Steve was explaining to me another way but i'm not sure if I understood 100%

lowrange offroad have the rings listed on their site...

I will have to wait till pay day, if I decide on that option.
I checked out my spare diff, it was in a vit, but is a sierra 2 pin carrier,
it don't have any obvious things done to stop the pins coming out.
I can see it could spin round and hit the pinion gear if it did come loose
