Snow Report

Post by steve125 »

Who needs a permit to drive in the snow?

After missing last weeks snow trip, I went for a drive this afternoon to see what i could find. After lunch in Marysville, I headed up past Lake Mountain and onto the road to Matlock. About 20 or 30 kms out of Matlock the patchy snow becomes a solid cover. Passed a grader that was keeping the road clear through to Woodspoint but everything else was covered with snow. The road down to Noojee from The Triangle was just two wheel tracks through fresh snow. And the road to Walhalla wasn't being kept clear either.

nice pics steve
how far did you end up going and did you head down the Noojee rd?
I was up there a couple of weeks ago and found the grader bogged which meant there was only one set of tracks through over a foot of snow on the main road, loved it.

Went as far as Matlock and then retraced my path back to Maysville. Was by myself so didn't want to try my luck on the Walhalla or Noojee Rds.

It's quite a few years since there's been that much snow up there.

Yeah the snow was insane this weekend and late last week . i spent the week up on the mitta mitta camped at anglers rest raft guiding and it was snowing there on tuesday and wed night then hitched up to hotham on thursday night and it was solid cover 5km out of Omeo.

Best skiing i've done in years. Powder knee to thigh deep in some areas... made for some excellent head over heels stacks when you slow down in the turns especially on a narrower carve ski of only 80mm underfoot...you go deep....a little bit of spinal compression also an after effect of getting too keen on some jumps hoping for a soft landing ;)
