Hi All,
Not sure if this is the place to post this or not or even if you are interested... not really a club trip I guess but anyway I thought I might post a trip we are planning, if anyone from the club has the time and inclination you are more than welcome to come along...
Sept 13th Deb and I and combined kids and possibly a couple of extras are heading off on a little trip.
First week will mostly be on bitumen as we travel via Adelaide, Woomera, Coober Pedy to Ayers Rock, then Kings Canyon and Alice Springs.
From Alice we hit the dirt south down the old Ghan track to Oodnadatta, then down around the bottom of Lake Eyre to see it full of water(only happens every ten years or so), on through Marree to the bottom of the Strezlecki track. Up the Strezlecki and across through Cameron Corner to Tibooburra and down through Broken Hill, Mildura and home.
Providing the unseasonal rain stops inland over the next few weeks and a few roads open up should be a bit of fun... and will be wonderful to see the desert in spring, especially after the rain.
Trip will be around 6500km and planning on being back in Melbourne around the 29th or 30th depending on road conditions and how long we stay some places...
If you are interested I will post more about what we are planning, what we are doing to prep our Zooks and when we go I can post up a few pics and anything interesting along the way as I should be able to access the internet via the wonders of satellite telephony.
