I was just talking to an Auto guy I have used in the past and he mentioned the Jimny auto. As we know, the Jimny auto is made by Aisin for Suzuki and it is described as a low torque auto. It was originally made for use with the 660cc Kei class cars in japan which include a 660 Jimny. Suzuki in their wisdom decided to use it with the 1.3 in the Jimny also. It has suffered failures around the world when it is used a bit harder and in particular when it gets hot hence the need to fit a good capacity external cooler to help it survive and it is also suggested to use a quality synthetic auto trans oil.
The Wreckers here find that they can sell every Jimny auto trans that they can get their hands on and cannot meet demand as they are scarce. Spare parts are only available from Suzuki and it appears that Suzuki not only don't carry all the parts for them but also can't get all the parts for them so if your Jimny auto trans fails and you can't repair it or replace it then it is game over. Apparently some of these parts are listed as no longer being made.
Look after your auto or be prepared to convert to a manual or swap in another option or you will have an expensive 4 wheeled paperweight on your hands.
