CANCELLED - Bunyip State Forest - Sunday 13 December

Post by Greg »

Hi Team,

Working on the "One Hard Trip Every 6 weeks" Rule of thumb, the next trip will be Sunday 13 December.

At this point I will be aiming for Bunyip State Forest (i.e. Gembrook), which I am told is now somewhat open again.

Trip Details at this point:

Where - Bunyip State Forest
When - Sunday 13th December
Rating - Hard - what else.

As usual - the trip details will be finalized closer to the date based on track availability for the region and member's movements etc...

Cheers,
Greg

Heard on the grapvine that this area is going to be open very soon so it should be good to go. It'll be interesting to see how much damage the fires have done up that way.

Also heard that police, DSE, Vic Roads May be having a bigger presence in this area so it makes it more of a reason to cover the wheels and tyres, fix the mudflaps, make sure the lights work, no cracked screens etc etc.

The grapevine is still providing some mixed messages about accessibility to Bunyip State forest.

Seasonal Closures ended this weekend (cup day), which would suggest that some tracks should re-open.

I am also watching a thread on Mud Rhino regarding a trip some folks there went on Yesterday in the area to see what they got onto.

One writeup i found suggested that some tracks up there are in great condition and were well worth a visit, but then another post i found said that these tracks had been dozed - so there is plenty to be confirmed still.

more details to come (i hope).

http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources ... /map16.pdf

Parksweb site also confirms that all seasonal tracks will be open again after cup day.

only two picnic areas will still be shut while toilet blocks are rebuilt (bushfire repairs)...

it is interesting to note how many tracks are missing from their new map though
