The Importance of Showing Interest - Trips

Post by Greg »

Hi Folks,

Just a quick reminder to please people know when in advance that you are planning on coming on a trip, or even somewhat interested in getting along if you can make it.

I realise that with the existance of the internet and mobile phones, we now have the capability to contact people at any moment to lodge our intentions with the trip leaders, but i can tell you that from the trip organiser end of things - there is nothing better than having trip attendees locked in well in advance so that you know if the trip is going to be worth running or not.

Previously I have said that the Wednesday before the weekend is sufficent (i.e. 4 to 5 days) notice for a trip i am running, however, since Felicity no longer works on weekend, my weekend time is worth more to me than before - so i will be requiring a full week and a half.

i.e.

4 confirmed starters (me included) required on Wednesday - 1 week before the trip, otherwise I will have to cancel so that i still have time to get something else planned for the next weekend.

Please also note that in a club this small - even announcing that you know you will definately not be coming along can be just as good - i.e. i know that for hard trips there are only 10 or less club members that would plan on coming - if 6 of these people announce that they cannot make it - i already know that the trip will not run.

The more notice - the better - that's all i'm saying. that will ensure that your perspective trip leaders are kept happy.

thanks in advance,
Greg
(on behalf of perspective trip leaders)
