Snatch strap safety

Post by cj! »

This pic is taken from another forum and shows what can happen when a snatch strap fails and this is without a shackle attached.

Please remember to exercise caution in recoveries and keep all unnecessary people well out of the way. Also keep an eye on the condition of your gear. Old, worn or well used gear can fail.

This goes doubly so for winching.

I was actually thinking about recovery and safety recently, I don't know the exact situation but this photo demonstrates how dangerous recovery can be.
With a number of new members joining the club I thought it may be worth running a bit of a recovery/safety day/afternoon if there is enough interest.
Not long after i joined back in '06 a tech day was held that covered some basics about recovery points etc and I found it quite useful.
