Jordan Valley Daytrip

Post by zookstir »

I am proposing to do a touring type day trip up through the old gold mining area of the Jordan Valley North of the Thomson Dam. There are some interesting places to see such as the old Red Jacket cemetery and a lunchtime stop at the old townsite of Jericho.
We would enter the valley on Violet Town track off the Walhalla - Matlock road and exit via BB Jordan Divide track that comes out on the Woods Point - Warburton road.
Way home can be made either through Warburton or Marysville.
Date:- Saturday 25th April (Anzac day).
Standard:- Easy.
Meeting place:- Moe Safeway supermarket carpark Corner George and Anzac streets Moe.
Time:- 0900 for 0915 start.
Contact:- Bruce 0409132157.
What to bring:- Picnic lunch.

Sorry.

I would normally go, but I am working that weekend.
What a bummer. Just itching to test the JK with the OME suspension etc.

Chris and Claire are interested.
I haven't been that way fer a long while.
It may clash with the elusive Otways trip, tho.

No, it won't!
I consulted Lloyd first and he says he will come on this trip. The Thomson catchment area is locked up from the 1st of May. Otway trip will be at a later date.

Shops would probably open in the afternoon like Melbourne.
The 25th is Anzac Day not Australia Day.

I don't think supermarkets are opening till 1PM.
I rang the Moe Caltex/Safeway petrol station (37 Kirk street) and they said they would be open from 7AM.
There is a Shell/Coles at Trafalgar (Westbound side of Hwy). Should have toilets there.
Could any further potential starters please post up so I have an idea of who to expect.

Bruce.
