Exploring Talbotville 14-16 November
Talbotville still had a store operating until 1947.Today it is a large open area next to the Crooked R and is an popular camping spot. The Good Hope mine was worked from 1865 to 1915 and today it is possible to still see the Steam Engine and stamping battery.
The whole area is a 4wd paradise as there are 23 crossings of the Crooked River in 10 km as well as numerous 4wd tracks in the area and good camp sites.
Leaving Licola 9am Friday morning driving to Talbotville and exploring the ruins of Grant and New Good Hope Mine.
Saturday: drive into Wonnagatta Valley via the Herne's Spur.
Sunday: out of the Valley Via the Zeka Spur to Guys Hut and Dimmick lookout then Back to Licola and Home.
This trip will be relaxed but remote please be prepared with plenty of fuel and Spares.
Toilets available at both camp spots.
This trip will be dependent upon favorable weather.

Re: Exploring Talbotville 14-16 November
This sounds great.
I have camped here a few times.
Crooked River track has 20 + river crossings.
There are some very steep climbs also...
Excellent fishing.
Should be available for this one.

Re: Exploring Talbotville 14-16 November
These figures are guess estimates based on me running a ruler along a map adding 10km extra for the curvy bits.
Licola to Eaglevale 80-90kms
Eaglevale to Talbotville 30-40kms
Saturday morning exploring 30-40kms
Talbotville to Wonnangatta via Sarah spur Hut 70-80kms
Wonnangatta to top of Zeka 35-45kms
Top of Zeka to Merrijig 80kms or back to Licola 80kms.
So total on the high side of estimates 450 kms
Zooks running at 20ltrs (bush kms) per hundred would need 90 litres.
The first drive to Eaglevale is an easy drive.
If people are struggling we can cut out bits or run into Dargo although I would prefer not to.
