As I am looking at putting a Vit 1.6 with 4 speed auto into the Sierra I have been looking at what options there are for connecting the output of the Vit auto (without the Vit t-case attached) to the input of the Sierra t-case.
I have learnt that two American companies have been working on solutions.
Petroworks has a prototype but is at least a few months away before a release might happen. From what I can tell it consists of a shortened jackshaft, a fibreglass tunnel, crossmember and a tail housing adapter for the rear of the auto. There may be other items as well.
Trail Tough apparently have had something available for the Vit 3 speed auto (Trimatic) and now have a product for the 4 speed auto. As it is new they have not got it on their site and have no instructions available either. From what I have been told it appears to be a collar around 125mm to 150mm long that has been splined to suit the Vit auto output and the Sierra t-case input. It has surfaces on the outside for seals to run. It also requires the Sierra slip yoke to be shortened by 25mm. Unfortunately they do not seem to be addressing the issue of the seal at the rear of the auto. Their product is USD$75.
Looks like some fabbing is going to be the order of the day.

Re: Vit 4 speed auto to Sierra t-case
I reckon the plate we made for the back of a trimatic will also work on a AW-4 - as it bolted to the transfer case adapter. No that hard to make and retains a jackshaft, IMHO way preferable.

That was with about 15mm shaved off the 1.3 gearbox mount - the 1.3 manual gearbox mount holes are still on the crossmember and can still be used.

A little more info from Brent at Trail Tough.
"It is a bushing that presses in where the original seal was. It is new, There are no instructions for the 4 speed adaptor. The jackshaft will need to be shortened and 1" removed off the end of its slip yoke. The new bushing comes with a seal for the output."
