Buying Drover help?

Post by Dougie »

G'day so looking at buying a 84 drover ute, just have a few questions, window regulator is a bit busted, you can only get the window up by holding it up as you wind it, is this a hard fix?
It has a bent (what I would call) a steering arm, is this a common issue?
And It has extended shakels made from stainless steel I'm guessing this will not pass a RWC,
Any help appreciated

Hi Dougie,

Get a new regulator on ebay
you can also get new shackles there too There might be a few kicking around the club you can get cheaply

By steering arm you might mean Pitman Arm (connects to the bottom of the steering box) or drag link (from the pitman arm to the hub)?

So just a bit of an update: removed bent steering arm/ rod and bent it straight in a 30 t press. New window reg of eBay, and have new felts coming too. And the homemade extended shakles passed roadie nothing said. The only things they picked for roadie were rear shocks, rear front leaf bushers and rear right brake drum sticking a bit, just needs a new brake cylinder. All coming together!
