Dakar 2017

Post by luigi »

Hi Fellas.
The Dakar Rally started last Tuesday.
They drive some incredible country.
Interesting to see that the two factories going all out to win the Dakar, Peugot and Toyota, have both gone back to two wheel drive.
Bad luck, Toby Price. Airlifted to hospital with a broken leg.
Regards, Wayne.

There's some interesting rules that makes the 2WD/4WD decision far from clear cut. 2WD's are permitted more wheel travel, wider tyres, and from memory, more power. With less "cross country" driving compared to the event's roots in Africa, I can see the desire for 2WD.

In local offroad racing, 2WD dominates.

Bad luck for Toby. He's pretty incredible to watch ride. Crazy fast.
