Post by lbzook »

Alrighty guys,

Let's start to get this year's snow trip planning underway.

TRIP TITLE:
2016 Snow Trip

TRIP DATE:
12th-14th August

TRIP DESCRIPTION:
Winter is on us again, and that means it's time to go find some snow to drive in/on/around/over etc.

As with previous years we will need to coordinate or climbs so that we have a minimum of 3 cars in each convoy.
Our options are pretty much as follows

- Climb Friday, camp, descend Saturday
- Climb Saturday, descend Saturday
- Climb Friday/Saturday, descend Sunday

Further details for the trip will be discussed and sorted out at the meeting on Wednesday night.

Anyone that is keen on joining in on the good times that will be had, speak up below so we can start to work out the convoy and permit details.

TRIP LOCATION:
Mount Skene

TRIP RATING:
All Standards

TRIP PARTICIPANTS:
Leigh - Sierra (maybe carless)
Neo - Jimny
Mike D - Jimny
Greg + Fel - Reborn Sierra
Steve D + family - 80 Series

I would be interested in a day trip up Mt Skene and back again on the Saturday if there was enough interest to get at least three cars to do that. I would stay in Mansfield Friday night which is 30 mins from Jamieson and take the Jimny. Sorry I am not really interested in camping in the snow.

We're thinking both Friday night and Saturday night in Jamieson.

Fri night Accom in Jamieson.
Climb Sat morning.
Descend Sat arvo.
Sat dinner at the Jamieson Pub.
Sat night Accom in Jamieson.
Sun brekky in Jamieson.
Sun Leisurely trip back to town.

I believe Matt and Gen were thinking the same.

That sounds good to me. As long as the pub has rooms available. We should book as soon as the dates and numbers are confirmed.

Oh and the vehicle details: Jimny YCB 836

I've updated the participant list, I'm sure there was more than 4 hands showing interest at the meeting though.

Remember guys, we need to get these permits and convoys organised as soon a possible so we can lock in the date.

Ashley,

That will depend on a few things.
Most importantly for this trip, is that we need to organise permits to allow the various convoys to head up and down the mountain.

If we have completed permits, with enough cars in each convoy, we should be able to amend them fairly easily. But this means that you will need to work in with the existing convoys.

Having said that, I wouldn't count on getting the permit amended in time if you leave it too late, say less than 2 weeks.
Also a requirement of the access permit is that everyone needs to be a paid up member, so everyone on the trip needs to join or renew their membership well in advance.
