Mann Air Filter

Post by Mike57 »

This one probably belongs in Steve's air filter rant on Auszookers but i thought I would add it quietly here. I installed a new Ryco filter before the last trip with Richard and I was quite shocked with the amount of fine dust that got around the filter seal. Nothing seemed to get through the filter but lots got around it.

I saw this Mann filter on Ebay for about the same as what I got the Ryco for. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262060885658 ... EBIDX%3AIT It arrived last week and the construction is quite different to any other filter I have used.

First of all is has quite a thick but soft rubber seal and goes right to the edges of the filter box and requires a bit of effort to compress when driving the clips home. Next the paper filter has probably 10 times as much paper as the Ryco. The paper rather than being a sort of "W" shape is like a compressed concertina and very dense.

Finally there is a layer of sort of a fluffy type material on the inlet side of the paper. Not sure how to explain it but it is like the material you might use as stuffing in a pillow.

Has anyone else used this brand of filter. At this stage I am quite impressed with it.

You can read about them here. https://www.mann-hummel.com/en/mann-fil ... -elements/
