Having trouble putting my rear drive shaft back in my sierra.
Its behind a 1 litre tcase with drum handbrake and i cant collapse the shaft enough to get it between the flanges (har har).
Im thinking of unbolting thenrear leag springs at the front and jack the chassis up to let the rear axle swing away

Re: lwb rear drive shaft
I thought drum is the same height as a wt rear output flange..
I would undo the transfer case mounts, put in a bot and reseat.
I have used a hammer from time to time though when in the same situation..

There is a locating ring on the flange at the diff end which wont go over the pionion thread and the bolts oncthe drum are captive :/
Re: lwb rear drive shaft
If you take the grease nipple out of the driveshaft yoke you can compress the shaft further by squeezing some of the grease out of the end of the slip joint.

Pretty sure you don't want your shaft to bottom out. If it's that hard to get in then I am guessing it's not going to end well...

Careful you don't lose the press in grease cap thing, lost a few by overgreasing and hydro? lock.
