Trip Report
Zook Club Cup - Warb-ertuche
Our day began in Gladysdale at 9am.
Neo, Christover, Steve125 and myself stated heading up Ellis. Track conditions where pretty good, a bit slippery in some sections, but nothing that caused us too much trouble. The Jimny and Vit took a few bypass tracks, and Steve and I had some fun on the bigger obstacles and ruts (some of which are getting pretty big!).
By the time we got to the top Neo had busted a transfer mount. A strap and some rope and five minutes later we where on the move again.
We headed off down Brittania Range and around to Justice Track, only to find it was still gated!
So we started heading around to the start of Cemetery, down a track, that was gated at the end
then backtracked and drove down an un-named track which would be well worth a drive up.
We got to the start of Cemetery...gated, down to the start of Justice...gated, at this point it was only 1pm and with the prospect of diving all around Warby and finding nothing but locked gates we decided to shoot over to Labertouche. An hour later, and a whole heap of tracks noted to come back and explore, we hit and Phasmid Ridge and climbed up to the top of the range and then across to Walkers. We drove the top end, with a small recovery here and there and Neo making things look easy in this unlocked Jimny.
Near the end of the first leg of Walkers, and pretty well smack on 4pm, Chris' front locker started playing up, so rather than risk driving the rest of the track with a 3wd Vitara, we opted to cut back down Sisters.
Everything was great until the last gigantic boggy section.
I got through alright, then Steve and Neo both got stuck and recovered, then Chris got stuck, really really stuck.
So we tried to pull him out forwards. After a few tries, and it obviously wasn't going to work, and I cut around another section to try to snatch him out backwards. At the same time Steve got himself pretty stuck in front of Chris again.
Then while trying to snatch Chris back out backwards, the strap stretched, Chris didn't budge and I got snatched backwards and grabbed a tyre on a ridge and ended up on my roof
A bit of hand winching, a bit of digging, clearing out an engine full of oil, a bit more digging, a bit more oil clearing, and two or three or four more recoveries we cleared ourselves of the section of track and made our way back down the mountain just as the sun was setting.
Despite all that, everyone got on board with dealing with the multiple recoveries at once, we all had a great day out and no one suffered anything more than minor damage after a good hard day driving.

I just need to replace a tie rod and the hard brake line, the big root that stuck me, ate some car bits, too.
I had a ball
Spartan front locker may become a lock rite, never had an issue with the Sierras or the Vitaras rear in years.
(Possibly related to 2 pinion diff maybe allowing twist and jam?
Then save up for another air locker.

It really was a great trip. I especially enjoyed the unnamed track from mineshaft hill link track to the start of crusher track.
We were trying to come out onto the old warby from mineshaft hill track, but the gate was locked, so we went back up to find a way around, I had google maps up and noticed this track marked out

Leigh had driven past it intending to go down crusher track, it wasnt on his map, I checked it out and found a really nice track, a technical decent and this track would rate as Medium Hard to Hard accent.
The actual track followed something like this:

At one point I was in a very deep off camber hole, the right was completely unloaded and the car was teetering on the left rear, I didn't want to get out of the car for fear of it tipping.
FUN!

I would like to blame the locker failure, but it could have been driver error, too.

Yeah, and fairly rutted out in sections too, will be awesome to drive up it at some point!mika wrote:Was this track quite rocky?lbzook wrote:Couldn't agree with you more on this one!
