Is it just the gears and bearings? The cost of freight is not part of the total that gst applies to.
Next time use USPS for freight, they've got a $65 flat fee box that can fit a lot of stuff and is usually at your door within a week.

Yeah. I was aware of the GST payable on imports over $1000 but I simply forgot at the time of ordering. It's totally my fault, the goods value was 938US (I bought gears bearings and whole bunch of other bits and pieces) which converted to 1010AUS so I was just over. All good, it's the kind of mistake you will only make once in your life
