Club Meetings

Post by gwagensteve »

Hi all,

This is just an observation, but in the last few months we've seen very low numbers at the monthly club meeting.
I know that lots of stuff gets covered on line, but there's no substitute for coming and talking to other members, buying a raffle ticket, an bench racing ideas in the carpark afterwards. The weather is improving - come along to a meeting!

Steve.

As an aside, stuff gets discussed at meetings that often only gets touched on in the members section on here, or we might decide on a club position on an issue at the meeting that might just be reported here. Voting on club decisions and contributing to discussion about the operation of the club is an important part of membership.

Paying is also n important part of membership so if you haven't done that we are going to get some pink Tahitian printed up that you will be required to wear.

Couldn't agree more Steve. Chris and I were actually having this discussion just before the meeting on Wednesday about why we come to the meetings all the time and both concluded it was the face to face discussion and keeping in touch with members who we might not necessarily go on many trips with.

I reckon I've learnt as much talking to people at meetings as anywhere else and discussion is always good with a few people. I thought the monthly presentations we did for a bit with the stove demo, first aid and prospecting were quite engaging and perhaps making this a regular thing might get more people along to the meetings. I can probably come up with a few more ideas for these if we decide its worthwhile.
