I'm tired of getting grease on me every time I fit the trailer on.
The grease gets pressed out too easily under load. See pic.
I suspect there is a better grease for the purpose.
I know I'm using wrong grease now.
I think a High Pressure grease may be the answer?
I'd appreciate opinions.

Re: zook off road trailer AKA Tadpole
Finally ran out of jobs on the Zook, so I have started on the Tadpole's tailgate.

Re: zook off road trailer AKA Tadpole
Finaly finished the tailgate. Gee I'm slow
I decided to have the tailgate swinging outwards, so as to avoid me bending over, and risking back troubles.
It may get a table/sink or whatever one day?
Got to be the worse welding and painting ever done, but photos look ok.
It won't fall off which is all that matters.
Can be prettied up easily down the track if desired.
I fitted seals, too, hopefully keep dust/mud/water out
Went for a test tow, as you do, and got tempted into some pose shots.
The bank was teasing me
The hitch/car/trailer clearances needed testing anyway
Now we just need legs, jockey wheel, tent top and maybe a spare mounted?

This should be self explanatory.
It ain't fixed on yet, but gives the idea what I'm aiming at.

wow big spender. is there going to still be space under the tent to store your stuff? maybe a slide out sink and stove or something.

Yes, the full trailer space will be available, minus a bolt head or so.muppet_man67 wrote:wow big spender. is there going to still be space under the tent to store your stuff? maybe a slide out sink and stove or something.
Sinks and stoves crossed my mind, but I like keeping things simple.

Re: zook off road trailer AKA Tadpole
I want to use the trailer as a normal trailer, when not camping, so I needed a quick on/off system.
I didn't want to use roof rack type bars, which its designed for, as I wanted it as low as possible.
Also I want the trailer box sealed up nicely.
I used the original tracks as locators, so that lining up the bolts holes would be easy.
I've drilled bolt holes thru the section that was designed to take the weight, as a lot of the floor is light weight hollow alloy with poly styrene filling.
I've welded some nuts under the rim of box, so I don't need to crawl inside.
I welded a nut to a plate first, so no upside down welds needed. The plate was a tad wider than the rim, so a bit stuck out for welds.
I only seem to like welding on the flat.
This way I don't to do any bending to fit it up.
