thanks happy tree friends
I will give those all a go after work tomorrow, the car hasn't moved more than 10 feet in the past week so if the rod is anywhere it will be under the car.
I miss daylight savings for stuff like this!

Re: new fuel pump now car won't start
I got 2 mouthfuls of fuel
the first time I got it, i had no vice grips handy to clamp the line
this didn't work though
i found the rod sticking out, and put a new hose clamp on the inlet pipe.
I tried pulling the pump out as I tightened the bolts (and got dirty hands) but still nothing :'(
I poured some petrol down into the carby and that made it go for a few seconds lol.
I might try put the old one back on to see if it works but in the mean time, can anyone suggest a gasket material/paper to use ?
I will make a gasket for the pump instead of putting glue on all the time and see how that pans out on thursday afternoon when the sun is helping me a bit more.

Perhaps try hand operating the fuel pump, make sure it actually works.
I've always use cereal box cardboard for home made gaskets.

I can't seem to get the rocker to go back and forth more than 4mm on either pump

Can't remember how much they should move, but both same should be right.
Leave pump connected to fuel in, hand pump to see if fuel comes out out let.
