I am just after some advice on installing a mini spool in the rear of my sierra.
I have decided to replace the standard axles with the Calmini HD axles and install the spool at the same time.
I have removed the axles and the centre and i am ready to put the spool in however it looks a little more of a challenge than i thought with all of the backlash and preload adjustments. I want it to be reliable and without much knowledge about diffs i would be only guessing.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a diff specialist to take it to be installed? I understand that some mechanics wouldn't want to go near it but i was hoping someone may know where i could take it.
Thanks, Sam

Re: Rear Spool
Hi Sam,
I take all my diff goodies to Matt at total traction in moorabin.
If you are getting the spool installed, you might also want to get the crush sleeve replaced with a solid spacer (matt can do this for you). Eliminating the crush sleeve will increase ring and pinion life as the crush sleeve can allow a bit of slack over time when pushing big tyres and running lots of gears.
Cheers,
Greg

Re: Rear Spool
Thanks Greg, i'll take it to Matt and give it a go.
Thanks for the heads up on the crush sleeve. I'll talk to him about getting it done. Its not a bad idea since tyre sizes will surely grow in time.

Sam
