2wdrivable?

Post by jonfromhamilton »

can you drive a ford falcon up back creek rd as far up as nash track or andersons track in bunyip?

the plan is to camp up there for the upcoming meteor shower and star-watch from the powerlines but Dad doesn't have a Sierra to get there :|

Last time I was there, yes easily.
Things can change in bad rains though

I like to watching meteors.
Moke Club had regular star gazing trips to Egg Rock fire tower in Gembrook,
I think track is closed now, but aint sure.

I don't know Neerim well enough to suggest a location.
Best to be high up, and most importantly away from light pollution,
Melbournes lights can wipe out the view, as can Sale and any other larger towns.

Pretty sure Neerim has enough hills to be ok.

Hopefully be a clear night for you.
Doubt I would come, saving up for warmer trips to come :)

Do you mean Black Snake Creek Rd? I haven't heard of Back Creek Rd.

Some maps have it as Back Creek Rd,
but it is Black Snake Creek Rd.

I thought that error would have gone years ago

then yes you should be ok with a ford flacon on this road. Andersons Rd would depend on it's current condition, but you'd probably get up. Remember though Anderson's Tk and almost all tracks in Bunyip are seasonally or permanently closed.

The track up Egg Rock is permanently closed but you can get there on the road and would probably be a good viewing spot.
