No worries Crispen. Good to hear the jimny is back in action.

At this point we're waiting for Richard to hunt down the accommodation action for us.

Cheers,
Greg

http://www.rawsonvillage.com/

Check this place out as well. Accomodation is basic, but they have a restaurant and a bar as well that they open up for groups. It would pay to see if those facilities would be available to a group your size if you wanted to check them out. I've stayed there a few times for work and it's not a bad joint and not far from Walhalla.

Accomodation on weekends in the area is hard to get so here are the options. Note members should make their own booking!

For Sat 19 May 2012 -

Rawson village has 1 motel room available at $110 for a double. See www.rawsonvillage.com Tele 03 5165 3200.

Rawson caravan park & holiday units has cabins & a dormatory type accom. Dorm'y at $50 a person, cabins at $105 for 3 + $10 extra per person -max 4 or 5.
Tele 03 5165 34439.

Erica Hotel Motel had 7 motel rooms yesterday at $99 per double. tele 03 5165 3252.
This is also a good spot to have an evening meal as a group. We will have to make a booking to get a table reservation. Meals are supposed to be good. Continental Breakfast or B/fast also avail in the dinning room if required.
Erica is about 3km from Rawson via a good road.

Walhalla accom is generally up market (expensive) & heavily booked so unlikely to get in on 19th or for the next few months.

There are camping facilities at Walhalla, Copper Creek & Erica.

Visits.
There are tours in Walhalla to the Long Tunnel Mine at 12 noon, 1:30pm, & 3pm each day on the w/end & the Railway operates from Walhalla to Thomson Stn & return - at 11am, 1pm & 3pm. If these are popular an early booking may be worth while. Both worth visiting.

Communication.
Remember mobile phone don't work at Walhalla or Copper Creek but OK at Rawson & Erica.
There are signs at Walhalla that UHF Ch 12 is used on (some) tracks.

Meeting Place.
On Sat 19 May - this needs to be determined but Moe sounds like a good place for at least the 4X4s. The 2wds may want to meet up at Walhalla?

I suggest early bookings for accom would be best!

In addition there are plenty of other walks etc in the area.

Cheers Richard
