Trips for March, April and May

Post by Greg »

Hi Folks,

A quick reminder to bring along your trip ideas to the meeting tomorrow.

I realise we have Wandin (19-Feb) and Adventure Tour (9-11 Mar), as well as a weekend around Walhalla (??-Apr), but there are plenty of other free weekends in there that need your help to fill them.

Thanks,
Greg

p.s.

Is there any interesting in a biking day around Mt Baw Baw?

From my perspective, it has the hardest rated climb in Australia for road cycling - and I need to get some training in between now and early April.

But, it also contains many downhill mountain bike tracks - and i recall that the 2011 Australian Championships were held there somewhere.

Anyway - I was thinking a Sat or Sun in late March.

Any takers?

Assuming my car survives the tour (and I ever want to look at my car again after the thrash to get it ready) I'm going to run an automatic practical/tech trip - maybe in April.

We have an increasing number of automatics in the club and have ever done any tech on auto driving in the field.

It would be set in a small area (mostly like the soup bowls at glenburn track) and then onto maybe rocky to put the theory into practice on some ledges.

Obviously the "driving impaired" will be permitted (that's you manual drivers :D ) so you can observe the automatic awesomeness up close, but it won't be a very driving intensive day, so unless you were contemplating an auto swap at some stage, it might be a bit of a boring day.

Actually, having a manual or two along would be super useful for comparison purposes.

Auto definately needs a different driving style.
It's a whole new beast.
I need to unlearn some manual driving habits.
As well as learn a new type of car.
I'd come along, always something to learn

gee steve, didn't take you long to jump on board and bag as poor folks with manuals
I'm keen on the auto day and lotsa hard trips.

Oh, and BTW steve, if you never wanna look at your car again after the tour just drop it off at my place on your way home. sure i can find some use for it :D

I want to do the Jordan Valley trip again, was thinking late March but could run it as easy/new member trip straight after Wandin, either the 26th Feb or 4th of March. Thoughts?

Will also run another camping weekend or two, Horseyard Flat or Lake Cobbler, late March maybe or early May, I'll try and fit in around the Wlhalla trip.

Interested in the downhill MTBing at Erica, Buxton also has a good trail, or Lysterfield's all open now and is easy to get to.
