LeisureFest 2008 October 2-5

Post by mightymouse »

The Caravan and Camping Expo at Sandown Racecourse has been renamed the LeisureFest this year.

As a guests at the 4WD Vic Board meeting Monday night Bill and I heard that the Association has been offered some free stands and of course we stuck our hands up immediately.

On the way back to my place, we discussed approaching Suzuki for some loan vehicles so we can run on the 4WD demo track that will be there and Bill contacted Suzuki today. It looks like we have a Diesel GV and a Sierra Jimmny arranged as well as banners etc etc.

Its still a few months away ( will advise date when its all arranged ) but obviously we are going to need a good turnout of members to man the stands and demo drive the test vehicles.

This will in all likelihood cost us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING unlike Wandin and builds the link with Suzuki, and hopefully attracts some new members as well.

A promising development.

The G/v and the jimny would be great. The G/V could tow a small van and the jimny can be tow behind a motor home. Seen many of them.

So you don't think a "static display" holds as much passing interest ?

Sounds like a good thing.
I'll put my hand up to help if I don't have to work, but if given enough notice I can probably cancel work. (Providing I haven't canceled for a few months)

LeisureFest 2008 is being held at Sandown Racecourse on Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th October from 10am till 5pm.

The details of our participation are being worked out but this is something we are going to need bodies for to help man the stand and drive vehicles on the test track.

I'm a regular attendee at this show.
Got most of my ideas for the zook camper from this show.
Happy to volunteer zook and/or camper, if it fits in with the theme of our stand.
Or tow it round the test track with the gv :)

Speaking to Bill and it appears to be a goer - a free stand for the club.

Before we make any arrangements with Suzuki for loan cars I need to see if there's any support to man the stand.
Best to do it properly or not at all........

Looking for a few vehicles of interest - perhaps not a hard core focus - the LJ50, a Jimny, a Vit and a Sierra or such.
Vehicles need to be available from Thursday til Sunday so if its your only set of wheels this could pose a problem

Also volunteers to man the Stand on all days , Thursday and Friday are a challenge for some of us but I suspect Saturday and Sunday will be the bigger days.
