I've been told that I can tow up to about 500, maybe 600kg with my Uki. It's an 86' Sierra and I'm considering making a tear drop caravan for it. Has any body had any experience that could be of any help with regards to how much you can tow?

My Sierra sized camper trailer weighs 250kg unloaded.
I don't carry much in it. I haven't done a lot of k's with it yet.
It tows ok, but you know its there. You'd need more power than a stocker fer 600kg in my opinion.
My trailer build is on outerlimits and on here.

Several club members have built small camper trailers for their Sierra's , one is a fold out tent style ( very Taj Mahal...

) and the other is a very well made "T" van copy. Both have proven to be successful - but have been designed to suit the vehicles.
Just be cautious that the tongue of the towbar is removable and doesn't limit clearance and approach angle, and if its going to be an "off road" trailer that you use a pintle and eye - or some form of revolving attachment to minimise any chance of the trailer tipping over the car.
Others from the club will be able to give you indicative trailer weights.
So yes its possible - just don't expect to tow a 10 berth caravan
