As winching is not something we do very often, and not discussed in the club - I did a little research to try to fill in the many blanks in my knowledge.

Given that many club vehicles are winch equipped, it seems to me that everyone - be they winch owner or spectator should have a basic understanding - particularly of individual safety. Its probably not a bad thing to address club liability issues as well.
