Posted: Fri 19 Dec, 2025 6:04 am
Hoping you can join us on an easy touring camping trip in the Vic high country to support some of our members in an extreme day hike.
4x4 trip rated easy
Walking trip rated medium/ hard , damage expected
Need both drivers and walkers .
Trip leader Darcy for walking group , need driving group leader
24-26 January 2026
Licola to Dargo , rough plan is to meet in Licola then proceed to camping near Arbuckle junction on the Saturday , then early on the Sunday dropping the walking group off at a trailhead on moroka road and driving on past horse-yard flat and the pinnacles before continuing down billy goats bluff track and on to eaglevale campsite to set up camp before meeting the walking group at the moroka junction track. Travelling out to Dargo for a late pub lunch on Monday before breaking the trip.
On Sunday The hiking group will cover approx 15 km over largely untracked terrain making most progress walking in the moroka river , this will be an off trail hike in a wilderness area so good to very good fitness is required and good boots and sun protection are a must, the Alpine stream is shallow and is the best path through the moroka valley , while it is too shallow to raft , there are sections we will be able to float. We expect to need most of the available daylight to achieve our objectives. This is an opportunity to see places that very few people see.
Be good to see solid participation , there will be some logistics involved to ensure there are enough cars to support our hikers.
Get in touch ASAP so we can plan.
