Proposal to Update Club Constitution – Addition of Purposes Clause.
Dear Members,
As most members would be aware, the Victorian Suzuki 4WD Club’s current constitution (based on the Model Rules) does not include a clause setting out the purposes of the Association. This is unusual, as most clubs have such a clause, and importantly, it is required to ensure we meet both legal and tax obligations as an exempt sporting organisation.
To address this, the Committee is proposing that the following Purposes of the Association be added to our constitution:
> Main Purpose of the Association
The main purpose of the Association is to encourage and promote the recreation of four-wheel driving, with a particular focus on the participation and enjoyment of Suzuki four-wheel drive vehicles.
The purposes of the Association are to:
(a) Promote, foster, encourage and represent the interests of members who participate in the recreation of four-wheel driving, particularly those who own and drive Suzuki four-wheel drive vehicles.
(b) Encourage, advance and support the recreation of four-wheel drive touring and related activities.
(c) Organise, pursue and conduct training programs, competitions, projects, trips and social events which further the development, skills, enjoyment and safety of the recreation of four-wheel driving and the activities of the Club generally.
(d) Co-operate with, support and assist any organisation having objectives and purposes similar to those of the Club, where such cooperation advances the recreation four-wheel driving.
(e) Co-operate with and assist relevant levels of government, land management authorities and community organisations in matters relating to the encouragement and responsible practice of the recreation four-wheel driving.
(f) Preserve, promote and foster the enjoyment of the Suzuki four-wheel drive marque in connection with its role in the recreation of four-wheel driving.
A special resolution will be required to adopt this amendment to the constitution. Accordingly, a Special Meeting will be held immediately after the next General Club Meeting on:
Wednesday, 10 September
8.30pm
Amra hall glen Iris
This Special Meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Club’s Model Rules. At this meeting, members will be asked to vote on the adoption of the above Purposes Clause.
This change will strengthen our constitution, provide clarity around the Club’s objectives, and ensure compliance with relevant tax law requirements for sporting organisations.
We encourage all members to attend, ask questions, and take part in this important decision for the future of our Club.
Kind regards,
Christopher Gooden
