Snow Trip A - Day trip - August 9 - Leaving Jamieson 7:30am
Posted: Fri 16 May, 2025 8:54 am
Details for this years Snow Trip A - Day Trip to Mt Skene are as follows:
Date: August 9thth
Location: Meet in Jamieson at 7:00am for a 7:30 departure (suggest staying overnight in Jamieson at the caravan park or the nearby free campground)
Difficulty: Easy/Medium depending on snow (might be easier with less snow). All cars are welcome, basic recovery gear and trip equipment required. No Chains required however one vehicle needs to carry chains
Trip Leader: Darcy (note: We would also like Vice trip leader in case the group gets split by another group again, any volunteers?)
General info:
As this trip takes place on a closed road, that we obtain a permit to be on, you must be a paid financial member prior to the final permit being submitted around 1 month before the trip date. The trip will leave Jamieson main street at 7:30am sharp, drive up the Jamieson Licola Rd (which is a wide 2wd dirt road in summer) that winds its way up to the top of Mt Skene. As you near the top the snow will build and the aim is to make it to the summit of Mt Skene before any other groups by driving on the snow covered road. At the top you can play around in the snow throwing snowballs at each other and tobogganing (BYO) etc. Hopefully Trip B participants will meet us there and we can all head back down into town for dinner at the Jamieson pub.
I believe there is interest in making an even bigger igloo than last time, so please bring the appropriate equipment.
Sunday is a leisurely pack up and drive home. please book your own accommodation for the Saturday night or arrange with the trip leader
If you are confirmed, I need to know your Full Name, Rego, Make and Model, # of passengers. First in best dressed, capped at 10 vehicles. Please also let me know your numbers for the pub dinner booking
