thompson river group float 14 Jan
Posted: Tue 11 Oct, 2022 10:16 pm
Postponed due to high / fast river levels and unfavourable river conditions , aim for January
Join us at Coopers Creek in gippsland for a float down the thompson river to Brunton's Bridge, Meeting point is at Coopers Creek Campsite gippsland 10am
This will be dependant on river levels and weather, lets hope for a warm one.
The trip takes 3 hours and is a 9km float with the flow / paddle down the Thompson on whatever watercraft you want to bring.
Canoe, Kayak, lilo, tyre tube , inflatable swan whatever you like, points for Creativity. If you are concerned about water temps a wetsuit is recommended.
This should be an easy gentle float down the river as a group, we stick together.
We will then need to take some time doing a car shuffle to recover the full group and their watercraft from Bruntons Bridge.
We will watch the river levels and do a safety assessment a week in advance.
there are great campsites at both Coopers Creek and Bruntons Bridge that you can use before and after the trip.
There is two wheel drive access to Coopers Creek however we will need some 4x4 vehicles to cross the river at Coopers Creekt to head down river to collect the team at the far end.
Look forward to floating with you all!
