Suzuki 4WD Club of Victoria

I'm planning on heading to the Imlachs Self Serve Wreckers in Clayton on the 6th of April to get a few things for some projects.

It's a great place to get cheap parts or parts that may be worth adapting to your car. Items like diffs, long battery cables, suspension links etc.

Example: BMW's use 70mm2 battery cable, the battery is in the boot so the run is about 3m, the cable is $4. The same cable is about $30per metre to buy. Perfect for wiring a winch or relocating a battery.

I'm aiming this at anyone who hasn't been to a self serve wrecker/pick a part or anyone who needs a hand getting something larger from the yard that they need assistance with. Hopefully I'll be able to pass on some useful tips and tricks while we are there.

What you need to bring:
- Enclosed shoes - work boots or similar recommended
- Tools to remove anything you may wish to purchase
- Research on if the part you need is fitted to another make or model to maximise your chances on finding what you need.

Valve cores and caps
VL commodore airbox mounts (they’re M6 rubber islolation mounts)
Coolant temp bimetallic switches for switching thermo fans without needing a fan controller
Hose clamps

Oh and EF/EL falcon alternators and associated wiring and underbonnet fuse boxes.

Great way of eliminating the flaky Sierra fusible link.

That list sounds good Steve. Will come along and add in alloy rims.

Door pockets
Weatherstripping (you can replace the pinch weld cover on the door shut of a Sierra with weatherstripping and it forms a secondary door seal)
Hiace air filter
Factory thermo fans
Oil/trans coolers (commodores with tow packs have additional trans coolers which will work as an oil cooler too)


Almost all non-airbag Suzuki’s have the same steering shaft spline so a nice baleno or swift wheel is an easy swap.

Vitara diffs front and or rear depending on what you want to achieve.
Vitara Power steer (does disappear quick)
Efi Vitara fuel tank (they’re generally holed to gas free them but are very cheap and repairable.
H4 headlight inserts
Map lights

do the vitara efi tanks fit between chassis rails on a lwb behind the back axle?

Yes. Both LWB and SWB 1.6

The v6 and 2.0 tanks are too wide from memory. Could be wrong though.
