Mt Robertson State Forest. Sunday May 28.

Post by luigi »

An Easyish trip into the Mt Robertson Forest, Kinglake.
Meeting at the Kinglake Pub car park, behind the pub.
9.00 am Sunday May 28.
Fuel and takeaway available.
The tracks are mostly easy, with lots of bog holes and a few medium sections.
There is a steep climb on Long Gully track.

So you found that climb then. ;o)

Sorry I couldn't make the recce.

It's a nice little forest - It's a great spot for an easy trip.

I assume you found the structure thingy (I can't remember what it was for)

Hi Fellas.
Hi Steve. Long Gully track is a very steep climb, but the surface is rock so there is lots of traction.
Battery Spur track is also a good hill climb.
Also Break o Day Spur track has a difficult climb, its yellow clay and deeply rutted.
The structure was a crusher (battery) for a gold mine or might have been an Antimony mine. Its marked on my map." Big Ben Mine Battery" But we didn't see it. I think it has been dismantled and the mine shaft is filled in.
We had a fun day. Louis filled his car with muddy water In one of the bog holes :( . Chris's Pajero had its first off road adventure. :D

Hi Wayne, I've spoken with a couple of my non club mates about this trip. One has a prado and one has a troopy. We may drive some tracks in toolangi on the Saturday and camp there then meet you in Kinglake. How does that sound?
