18w LED reverse light

Post by BZOOK »

Hello all. On my 84 swb Sierra I have 2 small LED reverse lights. I have purchased an 18w work light that I want to add for extra light when reversing. Can I just hook it up to one of the existing reverse lights or do I need to add in a fuse and relay? Thanks.

18W should be OK without a relay.

Might be annoying blinding people if they r just hooked into your normal reverse lights. Could put a master switch on them maybe

Fair point but I think I can angle it well enough that it won't be too bright from behind. If I put it on a switch I think I'd always forget to use it. :) thanks.

The regulations in Victoria at least require you to have a switch on it. My Defender was picked up for this.
